How far away is Norfolk? A long and winding way.
Popped down to Norwich to meet artist Olivia Jeffries and pick up a consignment of her beautiful drawings for the gallery. www.duckettandjeffreys.com. Similarity in name a pure coincidence.
Olivia’s work is being shown in our DJ selections where we showcase print, drawings, illustrations and all things funky.
Did a bit of an extended detour on the way back to visit Cromer - chips, peas, sea, sand - bliss.
On the way down stopped in at the Ropewalk Gallery where they had a great touring show of Jake and Dinos Chapman’s etchings, ‘My Giant Colouring book.’ Loosely based on dot-dot drawings from children’s colouring books, these etchings were photo etched onto copper plates. Dinos comments that they “are about how wrong you could make an image. How you could use nodal points and ignore them at the same time.”
In contrast was Dionne Swift’s exhibition, “New Grounds” which included collagraphic prints on industrial felt. A bit of a Prunella Clough moment.
